On a similar note I just finished a bok called "Young Stalin" that is a fightfull tare. A true thug from the time he was born. here's a funny story when he was Marshall.. he used to cut out pictures of people waving from westurn magazines.Stalin would thne paste then to the wall of a little room he had and then wave hello and goodbye to them.

Yes, Stalin I think was a despotic opportunist. I'm not very informed on his "ideals" but know that many life (other people's) affecting decisions were little more than whims (is that a word?).

Stalin was a monster, but he was OUR monster, without whom the Allies, of whom the Soviet Union was one, could not have defeated the nazis.

Something we tend to have forgotten, almost as soon as the nazi regime collapsed.

Of course it really was the Russian PEOPLE who did this, so fierce and adament as they were in resisting the nazis.
