texas indulgence
Road trip to Houston for work. I've planned to be eating a bit heavy (bbq & mex & tex mex and lots of beer) so I ate almost total vegetarian the prior days this week. Good thing. 6 beers and 3 pieces of church's chicken and nearly 2 bags of zapp 'tater chips and 3 tlingla tacos later, and I've been here less than 12 hours. night night.

Tx Way of Life

How can your gall bladder, pancreas, etc, take such a huge drastic change in fat and maybe protein status and not cause you big trouble? And especially at your age? I am amazed you can do that. I would have recommended a little gradual increase in "grease" prior to arriving, to prime the pump of enzymes prior to arrival.

I'm sure it was a bit of shock to the system. Saturday morning it was rough getting up and out. I was more balanced on Saturday but I did give in to fish with shrimp and crab filled topping. From what I hear shrimps is as bad for us chloresterol adverse peoples as pork or beef.

KPFT is here, the Texas branch of the Pacifica Foundation. I may have listened a bit to them back in '67 or '68 while in high school here in Houston. I did listen to them in the 70s a bit. Don't know what is going on with them these days or if they are still in operation. In the 80s there was push to separate from the Pacifica Foundation I think. Not sure. Now I'm mostly listening to my mp3 player. damned elitist that I am.

fat and carbs continue...

today don't have to work very much so I will go to a couple of favorites. BBQ and Tex-Mex. In Texas is great place to get good fresh flour tortillas. Good thing I am only here for 4 days, just had hotel room brunch featuring Zapp's spicy creole tomato chips with simulated Tobasco sauce flavor.

Re: fat and carbs continue...

We just returned from our local nouvelle Northern California Mexican place -- comfort food, and the last remaining place in this area where something like this can be obtained.

BTW, monsoon storming here, finally for the first time all summer.

We're heading uptown for a farewell-for-now get-together with some friends, who also want to listen to "Kiss You Down South," which hopefully will be out pretty soon.

Love, C.
