Here shayesaintjohn pointed out a web site which is creating a year's worth of selections of truly American music. From out takes from your local high school orchestra to "outsider" performers to unintentionally hilarious contributions to world culture by corporate world.

After a couple hours spent absorbing the first 14 or so items I had an uncontrolable craving for untoasted white bread and single slices of lunch meat and cheese with miracle whip sandwiches. I dashed to the grocery to make my purchase before they closed. I have now injested. Standby for the results.

cheers.

I love that site. Just today, I noticed the infamous Orson Welles outtakes. When I first saw the bit on the John Lovitz cartoon, "the Critic", I thought that they just made it up. Someone clued me in that something similar actually happened. And there it is on the site.

Was your hunger inspired by the cute, magical "the Cheese Song"?

No, haven't made it to the cheese song yet. The layers of associations and memories triggered by those I heard reminded me so vividly of the USA that I knew in my youth that the food of my youth again called to me.

I need to ration myself on that site or I will get nothing else done today.

cheers.
